When they get rescued by scientists on a ship, in the Atlantic Ocean, they are looking for a sea monster (it's actually an octopus), not a secret of happiness! But soon, they (Jack and Annie) fall overboard! Then they find the sea monster . . . This book is 128 pages long, making it the longest book in the series.

High Tide in Hawaii and a few more may also take place in present day but it is not specifically stated unlike in this book.
